This post commences our post-half marathon connection!
I promised to give a little glimpse into the running life of the Whistler community. At our heart, this community of Whistler bands together when one of our own is in need. I’ve been here long enough to see this happen, time and again; tirelessly we extend ourselves when the call is made for help. And just when you might think we’ve exhausted all forms of generosity and love, another call inevitably comes and once again we see it through.
Legs for Locals is a non-profit fundraising movement that helps one local at a time, specifically raising funds to help those who have a physical disadvantage. You can check out their Facebook page here .
On Tuesday, June 23 there is going to be an event to raise funds to help Brendan Cavanagh as he goes through rehab to learn how to walk again after suffering a broken back from a high-impact fall in the terrain park on Blackcomb this past winter. You can follow Brendan’s blog here and check out his gofundme page if you can’t make it to the event but feel compelled to donate.
Meeting at Passivhaus at 8pm, we will head out for a short walk/run around Lost Lake. The ticketed après/after party is being held at none other than Scandinave Spa from 9:30pm – 12am. You can purchase tickets for $40 at either Scandinave or FORLISE (next to lululemon in Whistler village).
Dress in retro attire for the run. Get ready to party down at the spa because our friends from Whistler Brewing will be there (you know après ain’t complete without locally crafted beverages), plus Solfeggio is doing the food (squeeee!!!).
All proceeds from this event will go to Legs for Locals and their efforts to help Brendan. Let’s see what we can do to help them meet their goal of raising $30,000.
You can contact Legs for Locals through their Facebook page if you want to find out about making a donation for silent auction or other ways that they might be raising funds through the event.
Never Stop Exploring ❤,
