TOUR THE COURSE Pt 4

Admittedly, there will be only a few photos in this final instalment of Tour the Course. In keeping with the theme of “leaving stuff out” I’m not showing you the finish line, though it is the same location as the Start line there is something about seeing it as you’re in the final seconds of your race that I didn’t want to take away from you; especially those of you who will be racing for the first time.

On with the photos!

After a little neighbourhood tour through Spruce Grove, you find yourself on the valley trail again

This is a BRAND NEW bridge over Fitzsimmons Creek.

You're officially on your way back to the village. And starting the part of the course where I usually really start to feel ready to be done.

Back toward Passivhaus, you're going to cross the blue bridge, go under the overpass and then cut right. You are in the last 400m of the course now!!

At this point I always pull out my earbuds if I’m listening to music because I want to hear the crowd and the announcers at the Finish line. You’ll be able to hear them from Lorimer Rd as you’re heading toward the Day Lots.

You'll run into Day Lot 4, follow the course markers and then turn right. This little climb here is your LAST HILL, on the other side is the Finish chute!

Congratulations! You’re done. You made it. Hopefully meeting the goal of finishing is just the start of the success you feel from this day. Remember to hydrate well, stretch and get something to eat within the first 30 mins after you finish. Take those running shoes off, stretch out on the grass in Whistler Olympic Plaza and relax.

If this course tour wasn’t enough for you, we recently shared on Facebook a complete video time lapse of the course. Here it is, for those of you who want to see the whole thing in one place.

Next week we’re going to talk about all of the fun stuff we have in store for you on race weekend. There are a lot of awesome workshops taking place (I’ll be giving a quick talk on essential oils for runners), carbo load dinner, a FREE organised recovery run that you need to pre-register for, etc. Our amazing race organisers have tried to provide lots of “extras” for your race experience; you’ve come all this way so I hope you get a chance to soak some of that up!

Never Stop Exploring ❤,
Aimee
