TOUR THE COURSE – Pt 2

I realise this second instalment has been overdue. Truth be told, this next section of the course is just far enough from my house that it would constitute a long run in order to get all the shots I wanted and I’m currently using my long run day to lead a running group. And so instead, I drove to different sections and then ran myself out onto the course to snap a shot.

I’m going to be leaving out big chunks of this section, you are not going to see the last 2-ish km because I want to save that for you for race day – the views are so worth the wait, I’d hate to ruin it for you by sharing them now.

Blah blah blah, on with the pictures!!

Little climb into Nordic, the hills really are going to end soon.

A little downhill back toward Lakeside Park and the water station. If you didn't grab water the first time by, do it now.

Little piece of trivia for you - this stretch was part of the torch relay for the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Man, we really loaded the front 10km with hills, eh?

...half marathon runners go left!

Backside of the Whistler Golf Course, you've had a lovely downhill now and are about to start the flattest part of the course. YAY!

Love this little bridge.

Crossing over - flat section here we come!

This is where I leave you hanging. You're heading out to Rainbow Park, my favourite section of the course for not only the views it holds but for the fact that the entire trail is loaded with runners coming or going. You will see your friends here if you aren't running together, people you trained with, and get a nice break from climbing. Enjoy your run out to the halfway mark.

Halfway there! I promise the wait for our next installment won’t be as long. The flat stuff will end, if the weather is anything like it has been in the years prior the clouds will start to pull away from the sun now and mentally you’ll be feeling the effort behind you. So much more running ahead, this is where you dig deep and your training will support you. In the next 10km, you’ll run through Tapley’s Farm, into the Village, out to Spruce Grove and White Gold….and then you’re DONE!

Never Stop Exploring ♥,
Aimee
