We’ve enjoyed a fabulous week of Okanagan spring weather at it’s best so I’ve been enjoying the time to get out on my runs this week. With the change of season comes a change in scenery so I love fine tuning ALL of my senses and really taking the time to notice what I’m noticing(!)….
I can smell….BBQ’s – the good weather has people out on their decks cooking up their supper
I can see….the buds on the trees and shrubs – it won’t be long before we’re in full blossom!
I can hear…. the sound of laughter and joy – the neighbourhood kids are out playing in the streets again – yay!
I can feel…. the warmth of the last rays of sunshine on my skin and savouring it – because this time of year when the sun dips below the horizon it’s still pretty chilly eh?
I can taste….that sweet, chilled, chocolate milk I’m looking forward to drinking as soon as I get home!
So just occasionally stop focussing on running; whether its your breathing, your heart rate, your pace, or how far you’ve got to go and just open your mind, be aware and check out your own senses and make a mental note of what you notice.
